Hello to everyone
Progress with everything is slow as always due to work and family commitments, and far too many projects on the go at once! However, progress is being made!
Having agonised for months on what multiplex transmission system to use, and having changed my mind literally hundreds of times, I finally opted for midi. This has several advantages for me :-
1. I already have a semi-portable midi console which I use for my Hauptwerk organs so I can get it playing fairly soon.
2. It will enable me to adapt the 347 console and continue to use it for the FTH instrument until I build the replica console. I emphasise adapt, as the 347 console will not be altered, it will just gain a plug-in adapter to run the midi system. This will enable it to be used normally with its own generator cabinet as it was originally, or with midi, using a plug in decoder.
I now have the boards and pre-programmed PICs, and I already have stocks of shift registers and ULN driver chips - so a few evenings should see that lot assembled and ready for use.
All I need to do now is make a level shifter network to drop the 15V (approx) from the console to logic level for the encoders. I am still deciding on which method to use here - whatever I choose will mean a lot of fiddly soldering though!
Anyway, thats it so far, keep watching for more!
Richard
